Liturgical Ministries

St Thomas More offers a large variety of opportunities for members to participate in the many different Liturgical Celebrations of the Catholic Faith.  If you are interested in sharing your time and talents in any of the ministries below please contact Joe Kouba.

Music
The music ministry is designed to serve the voice of the worship assembly. Vocalists and instrumentalists (keyboard, guitars, strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion) participate in weekly rehearsals and occasional workshiops to develop excellence within the choirs and ensembles.

Eucharistic Minister
In a spirit of reverence, Eucharistic Ministers share the Body and Blood of Christ with the assembly.

Greeter
As the Body of Christ assembles for worship, greeters welcome all who come to the feast, extending a warm smile and friendly “hello”.

Lector
After careful preparation and prayer, lectors proclaim the scriptures (Word of God) during liturgical celebrations.

Mass Coordinator & Server
In service to the assembly and the presider, Mass coordinators facilitate the smooth flow of liturgy through careful preparation of the altar and cleaning of liturgical vessels and elements of worship. Servers work with the Mass Coordinator and assist at the Altar.

Liturgy Preparation
The preparation for the liturgical seasons involves studying the scriptures, prayers, and our own traditions; making proposals for music, texts, environment and ritual movement; communicating the directions to the ministers and evaluating the season afterwards.

Sound System Operator
During liturgical celebrations, the operator controls the mixing board for all microphone sound levels.

Art & Environment
Artists, craftspeople, and decorators prepare the worship space through the use of visual arts.
